Portraits
Our informal and relaxed style produces naturally recorded photographs that can be treasured for years.
Photographs can be taken anywhere within the home, garden or location of your choice such as a local park. All sittings will provide a range of colour, monochrome and special effects as well as a handful of montage prints (see below).
Photographs can be mounted for wall or sideboard presentation, for album or in DVD slideshow format.
Children Sittings
Portraits of young children are taken in a relaxed style and sessions can last up to two hours. Children can then adjust to a new visitor following them around. We encourage them to play but also to interact with the camera. A mixture of traditional, reportage and artistic shots will be captured during this sitting. Where babies are involved, the session takes on a much slower pace as subjects can become restless or irritable.
Taking portraits of young children may be stressful for them. I therefore advise more informal shots. It’s a good idea to have a few favourite toys present. Also consider larger props you may wish to be included such as a large teddy bear, chair or rocking horse.
Family Portraits
These are often centred on a more traditional theme but we encourage the family to interact with each other as much as possible. Various combinations are captured. For example, husband and wife, father and son, mother and baby, brother and sister.
Presentation
Three to four weeks after your sitting, you will receive a post-portrait pack. This includes a DVD slideshow of all your images broken down into three chapters; colour and effects, montage and monochrome. To accompany this, you also receive a thumbnail booklet which lists all your photographs in order with order codes. Your photographs will be put online and can be found under ‘recent portraits’. You will have up to three weeks before you must return your DVD slideshow. The proof booklet is yours to keep.
Montage prints are photographic displays created from more than one of your photographs. They aim to be something different from the traditional portraits hung on walls and look great when printed on canvas.
Presentation can transform the look of a photograph dramatically. We can supply a variety of albums from credit card sized to A3, there is something for every budget. We have access to a vast range of products which can compliment your photographs, so if you don’t see what you’re after in the shop, please drop us a line.
Sitting Advice
To get the most out of your portrait sitting, it is advised to have an idea of the style of portrait that you are after. If you have any requests or ideas, do not hesitate to discuss them with us. I often advise to look through magazines or the Internet and collate some pictures that will help describe what you wish to achieve.
It is a good idea to coordinate your clothes with others that may be in the picture with you. Stick to the same colour tones and avoid patterns. Also avoid wearing sleeveless tops as the level of skin tone present can distract from the face. If you are looking for a more informal style, casual, comfortable clothes work best. Don’t be afraid to ask for a dress change halfway through the session.
The important thing to remember is the more relaxed you are, the better your photographs will be.
